Thinking spring!

It has been a chilly month in Iowa and I am starting to get all kinds of antsy for springtime and spring planting!  The Seed Savers Exchange catalogues are out and I have officially planned my garden.  

Given how healthy (and numerous) the local deer population has been looking lately, I’ve added a few improvements to the perimeter defenses…

God: now gluten free!

I was having dinner with friends last night and, as it usually does around me and food, the conversation turned to food allergies.  My friend Beth Ann told me that her church, Westminster Presbyterian, is offering gluten free communion crackers starting tomorrow!  

This is a wonderful initiative that I hope to see become a trend.  A lot of gluten intolerant people are missing out on communion at church because of their food allergies.  It’s no fun being allergic to your religious practices.  Thankfully, churches like Westminster Presbyterian are helping us out!

Broccoli Sausage Breakfast Casserole

Ok, ok, I know… I KNOW.  I haven’t been posting as often as I should.  Feel free to think snarky thoughts about me.  I spent the month of December working part-time at Williams-Sonoma!  It was a blast spending my weekends helping people pick out culinary gifts for their loved ones.  The employee discount didn’t hurt either…

Needless to say, Santa delivered a lot of aprons and whisks this year.
