Celiac Disease Awareness in Des Moines

Posted by Hannah on Jun 25, 2008 under Des Moines, Gluten-Free

This morning I was excited to see yet another article on Celiac Disease in the Des Moines Register!  As someone who has been diagnosed as gluten intolerant, I know what it is like to go from a state of chronic illness to being healthy, energetic and happy.   Articles like these published in the Des Moines Register are helping to spread awareness about Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance and give people the knowledge they need to change their diet and begin to feel well again.

Locals, be sure to stop by the Des Moines Arts Festival this weekend!

Always Good for a Laugh…

Posted by Hannah on Jun 21, 2008 under Garden, Photography

It is Saturday, and I think I will make some gluten-free brownies. Normally I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but today I am in need.  The White Sox just lost their second game to the Cubs in the Chicago Crosstown Series.  Hmph.

Another thing that always eases my bad mood is photographing Grey Cat (otherwise known as “Sully,” “Sullivan,” or “Devilcat”).

He only looks sweet and innocent.

It’s like an addiction, really.

At first, it all seemed so simple. Dig a couple of holes… push a few seeds into the ground.

There are days when I am in the mood to eat my weight in chili burgers (with no bun, of course).

Hannah’s Breakfast Sandwich

Posted by Hannah on Jun 1, 2008 under Dairy-free, Gluten-Free, Soy-free

This summer I have been spending my weekends in the garden.  It’s hard work, doing manual labor all day, but in the end it is extremely satisfying.  On these sunny weekend days I know I need a substantial breakfast to keep me going.  Eggs are always a great source of protein and energy and I eat them all the time.  This is a great recipe that is guaranteed to get you through your most hectic day!
